Our school respectfully acknowledges that we are located on the ancestral, traditional and unceded Indigenous territory of the Algonquin Peoples,
on whose territory we pray, learn, play and work.

About Our School

   WHO IS SAINT GEMMA?

In September of 2015, McMaster School officially became St. Gemma Catholic School.  Click here to learn more about our patron saint.

St. Gemma Catholic School’s main parish link is with Resurrection of our Lord Catholic Church.  We are also lucky to have Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church as a part of our community too.

Catholic Graduate Expectations

St. Gemma Catholic School prides itself in being a school that not only digs deeply into the Ontario Curriculum in all subject areas,  but also works hard to ensure that our students are well developed in the Catholic Graduate Expectations.

Catholic education views human life as an integration of body, mind, and spirit. Rooted in this vision, Catholic education fosters the search for knowledge as a lifelong spiritual and academic quest. The expectations of Catholic graduates, therefore, are described not only in terms of knowledge and skills, but in terms of values, attitudes and actions.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

For student absences, e-mail the school at gemma@ocsb.ca

In the morning we ask that students enter the school yard on the east side of the school. The parking lot will be closed so you can safely walk through the parking lot or the sidewalk along the gym to enter the school yard. For safety reasons we are asking that you do not walk into the school yard with your child. At the end of the day students will also be dismissed on the east side of the building, exiting via the parking lot and path along the gym.

We enjoy a good relationship with our neighbours and wish to continue to do so.  Please be careful not to block driveways when picking up or dropping off your child(ren).
